More than just a little paste ring

P1040258

In 1991, I was on the Committee for the New Plymouth 150 yr celebration. A ball was being held and I asked my Grandmother if I could borrow a gorgeous blue ring that she had. My Darling Grandmother said " This ring was always going to be yours so you can wear it and then keep it". This ring had been given to my Grandmother from her Aunt who bought it out with her from Ireland in early 1920. Grandma was under the impression it was paste. After the ball I took it to a jeweler who had it sent to Auckland where it was given a much needed clean, and valued and when the valuation came back the 3 stones were beautiful Ceylonese Sapphires. I was totally stunned and Grandma was delighted. This beautiful ring has been worn on many special occasions, the last being my Niece who wore it on her wedding day as her something blue, I feel so privileged to be the guardian of this ring for other family members to wear
