There is such a thing as Goodluck in a terrible situation

Where to even begin..

This ring is a family heirloom

My grandad (Jack Harry) mined the gold out of the hokitika river himself, had it made and engraved, then gave it to my grandma as her wedding ring. This ring was then passed down to my mother and now to me.

However this isn’t the entire story of the ring..

In late October 2011 whilst on a family holiday away our house was robbed. Everything was taken, including all of my mother’s jewellery (this ring belonged to her at the time). Mum never took the ring on holiday as she never wanted to risk loosing it (especially skiing).

We were alerted to the robbery by the bank. One of the robbers were trying to cash in a fraudulent cheque signed by ‘my mother’. Dad knew the bank teller that served him and knew he wasn’t dads nephew like he claimed.

We were already in our way home so dad asked the teller to call the police and we would be there as fast as we could.

We reached the bank an hour later and they were interviewing him in a side room. When they searched him they found granny’s ring in his back pocket..

It was the only thing recovered from the robbery and it was the only thing that mattered.
